Late night review

by LeeJones July 9th, 2009

A few of us from the Cake organization swung by the Amazon Room late last night to see how people are progressing in Event #54. We spotted Gunners1 sitting on 25K chips, Ryan Hall holding his own, and this guy, “.01155″:

We just got an email from him – he ended Day 1 with an extremely respectable 35K chips – he’ll be a force to contend with tomorrow on Day 2.

At a nearby table was Psilocybin:

He was sitting on a happy little mushroom of 10K chips when I last looked.

Keep up the good work, folks – we’re proud to have you all on Team Cake.

Before signing off for the night, I need to shout out to my friend (and Team PokerStars member) Hevad “RainKahn” Kahn. Hevad took a lot of flak for his behavior at the final table of the Main Event a few years ago. But c’mon – he was a kid sitting on the world’s stage for the first time in his life. And after watching some of the superstars of our business, how could he possibly know what was appropriate behavior and what wasn’t? Ever since then, he’s been a model of good behavior at the poker table, and his ubiquitous smile is great for the game. Anyway, Hevad left his table to come over and say hi to me on the rail and give me a big bear hug. He’s sporting a Zappa-esque look these days, which makes him even more charming. If one of our Cake guys can’t win this thing, I hope Hevad does.
