Happy National Hat Day

Tom “durrrr” Dwan celebrates National Hat Day
National Hat Day, which comes on January 15th of every year, is a holiday of uncertain origin. Some say it’s because this is the day, back in 1559 when Queen Elizabeth was crowned the Queen of England, while others state that National Hat Day was started much more recently by The Headwear Association. Which, by the way, does exist, and does have a website, where you can learn important things, like the fact Brad Pitt was chosen as their “Hat Person of the Year” for the jaunty way he wears a fedora (and no, I’m not kidding about that). For the record, The Headwear Association makes no mention anywhere on their website of the holiday.
Whatever its origins, you don’t need instructions on how to celebrate Hat Day. Just put on your favorite hat and wear it around for the day. And maybe hang around with some of your friends, who are also wearing awesome hats. If you don’t have a hat, one of those sweet poker visors will also do the trick. And if you hate wearing hats like I do, just spend the day surfing the internet for photos of your favorite poker player wearing a hat. Ideally, only a hat. (unless your favorite poker player is, say, Greg Raymer).
Oh, and I checked around, and I’m pretty sure that it’s not an actual, official national holiday. So you probably won’t be able to get away with telling your boss you’re not at work because it’s National Hat Day. Though hey, it can’t hurt to try.
