Swedish poker player Anton Wigg outlasted the competition last night to win the European Poker Tour Copenhagen event. The 22-year-old had to beat out 423 other players to take the crown. But that wasn’t the hard part. The toughest part of the poker tournament was an extended four hour session of heads-up play against the runner-up, the tenacious Italian player, Francesco de Viva.

Eventually it all came down to one hand, like it always does. Wigg pushed with AJ of diamonds, which prompted a call from de Viva, who held K-10o. The board came down Q-Q-9-2-8, and Wigg was the champ.

For his trouble, Wigg won 494,000 Euros, after winning his seat playing a $500 satellite. This is not only his first win at a EPT event, it’s his first cash of any kind. The next European Poker Tour event happens in Berlin from March 2-7th.
